The School of Law recently honored Peter B. "Bo" Rutledge and Yvette K. Daniels with prestigious awards for their contributions to the legal field. Rutledge, the former dean of the School of Law, received the Distinguished Service Scroll Award, recognized for his leadership that elevated the school to top rankings nationally. Daniels, a 1989 graduate, was awarded the same honor for her notable 25-year career in state government and public health leadership. Daniels also brought distinction as the first Black woman president of the UGA Alumni Association and continues to serve on several boards, including that of the UGA Foundation.
Carson M. Alexander was presented with the Young Alumni/Alumnae of Excellence Award. Alexander, a partner at Alexander & Alexander Attorneys at Law, recently became a part-time associate municipal judge in Springfield, South Carolina. She holds an active role in her community and has served in various legal capacities across judicial circuits.
The presentations were made by peers and colleagues who have witnessed the awardees' significant achievements and dedication to service. Gordon Woodward, a partner at Kohlberg & Company, presented Rutledge's award, while William H. "Wil" Alexander, a partner and spouse to Carson M. Alexander, presented her with the Young Alumni/Alumnae of Excellence Award. The event highlighted the diverse accomplishments of the honorees and their ongoing commitment to their professions and communities.
