The University of Georgia (UGA) has announced a closure and modified operations due to an approaching winter storm. The decision affects January 21 and January 22, with all in-person classes, campus events, and activities canceled. This precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of faculty, staff, and students.

The School of Law at UGA will also be closed on Wednesday, January 22. All scheduled events during this period will be rescheduled once normal operations resume. Organizers are advised to inform guests and attendees about the closure.

"The Law Library will be closed, which will include swipe card access," stated the update from the university. Faculty instructors have been given the discretion to decide whether to hold classes online or provide alternative arrangements.

Regarding clinics, students are not required to appear in person. Clinical faculty or staff should not come to campus unless necessary ethical duties require it and conditions allow safe travel.

Students with specific class questions should contact their professors, while general inquiries can be directed to Dean Dennis or Ms. Tickles. Employees should reach out to their direct supervisors within the School of Law’s Crisis Response Group.

UGA advises everyone to remain cautious of weather conditions and ensure communication devices are charged. Updates can be found on emergency.uga.edu or UGA’s social media accounts.

Earlier on January 21, UGA moved to early release at 2:00 p.m., canceling all in-person activities for the day due to the storm's approach. The Law Library remained accessible via swipe card access despite being officially closed.

For emergency information related to UGA, individuals are encouraged to visit emergency.uga.edu as their primary source. The law school will update its homepage and social media platforms based on official communications from UGA.

"School of Law faculty, staff and students are invited to sign up for a one-way texting notification system by following these instructions: Text 'ugaLAWalert' to 877-804-2955," according to the notice provided by the law school.

In summary, UGA's response plan prioritizes community safety amid potential inclement weather conditions while maintaining clear lines of communication through various channels.
