Wilson Associate Professor in Business Law Laura Phillips-Sawyer has contributed a chapter to the new book "Can Democracy and Capitalism Be Reconciled," edited by S. Miller and S. Milkis and published by Oxford University Press in 2025. The chapter, titled “The Problem of Market Power in Postwar America: Antitrust Law, Accountability, and Changing Ideas of Market Power,” examines how antitrust law has addressed issues of market power in the United States following World War II.

Phillips-Sawyer’s work discusses shifts in legal thought regarding market power and accountability, situating these changes within broader debates about the relationship between democracy and capitalism.
