A team of third-year law students from the University of Georgia School of Law has won the regional round of the National Moot Court Competition, which took place in Atlanta over the past weekend. The team, consisting of Elizabeth N. Burns, Taylor N. Hoying, and Antavious L. McCarden, will advance to represent UGA at the national level in New York City in January.

Elizabeth N. Burns received recognition as the best oralist for both the final and preliminary rounds during the competition. The students were coached by Adjunct Professor Cole M. Harper and alumna Casey E. Wofford (J.D.’25).

The National Moot Court Competition is co-sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the New York City Bar Association. Each year, more than 150 accredited law schools participate in this event, with over 1,000 students involved.
