Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School participated in the 2025 HBCU Pre-Law Summit, which took place on September 26 and 27 in Atlanta. The national event is open to students, alumni, and community members interested in law school. Its goal is to offer information about law school admissions and the legal profession by bringing together representatives from law schools, as well as attorneys, judges, pre-law advisors, and current law students.

The two-day summit included keynote talks, panel discussions, workshops, and a Law Expo where attendees could meet with representatives from various law schools and legal organizations. Participants were provided with planning materials for applying to law school, opportunities for advising, and professional networking sessions.

As part of the summit activities, attendees visited the Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School campus. During this visit, they toured classrooms and study spaces while learning about academic programs and student life at AJMLS. The visit also allowed prospective students to interact with members of the AJMLS community.

AJMLS staff and students contributed as speakers, panelists, and advisors throughout the event. Dean Martin L. Ellin served as a guest speaker; Marc Reece participated as Director of Recruitment and Outreach; Piaja Brooks was a panelist; Melissa Harris spoke as a Law Student Association leader; Taliyah Scruggs, Jayla Lunnie, Donte M. Watkins, Deena Anderson, Ashanti Mitchell (all 1L or 4L), and Kennedy Austin (2L) acted as pre-law advisors.

According to AJMLS: "Through its continued participation in the Summit, Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School reinforces the commitment to engaging with future law students and supporting an event that promotes learning, access, and opportunity for all who are considering a legal career."
