Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School marked Veterans Day by acknowledging the contributions of its students, faculty, and staff who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The law school highlighted the importance of honoring those who have dedicated themselves to military service and emphasized their ongoing commitment to justice and public service.
According to the institution, among current students with military backgrounds, 55.6 percent served in the U.S. Army, 11.1 percent in the U.S. Navy, 22.2 percent in the United States Air Force, and 11.1 percent in the United States Coast Guard.
The following students were recognized for their service: Raul Alvizua (U.S. Navy, 6 years), Steven Braun (United States Air Force, 13 years; still serving in the Air Guard), Christopher Briasco (U.S. Army, 17 years), Ryan Callahan (United States Coast Guard, 6 years), Kody M. Dobbins (U.S. Army, 10 years), Stefanie Jones (U.S. Army, 10 years), Tyler McGrath (U.S. Army, 8 years), Donte’ Watkins (United States Air Force, 10 years), and James Woodall (U.S. Army, 8 years).
The school noted that these individuals bring valuable perspectives to their studies through their experiences in military service.
AJMLS also acknowledged veterans among its faculty and staff. IT Director Harold Bieber served as a jet engine and flight line mechanic on F18 aircraft in the United States Marine Corps from 1986 to 1992 and completed two Western Pacific tours.
Professor Michael Mears was recognized for his six-year tenure in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1967, including service during the Vietnam War in 1965 and part of 1966. He is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Corey Martin, Supervising Attorney for AJMLS’s Legal Veterans Assistance Program, was also mentioned for his eight years of service in the U.S. Army and his ongoing work supporting veterans through legal aid.
“On Veterans Day and throughout the year, Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School expresses deep appreciation for the veterans among its students, faculty, and staff,” stated AJMLS officials. “Their courage, leadership, and commitment to service enrich the law school community and embody the values that AJMLS strives to uphold every day.”
