The University of Georgia Alumni Association Board of Directors has named Corey Dortch as its 79th president, with his term beginning July 1. Dortch, who has served on the board since 2016, succeeds Lee Zell after Zell’s two-year term ended June 30. Dortch lives in Marietta, Georgia, and works as an executive search consultant for CarterBaldwin Executive Search. He and his wife also operate Hines Dortch Consulting. Dortch previously held the role of associate dean of the evening MBA program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
In addition to naming a new president, the board approved seven new members starting their terms on July 1. Among them is Santhia L. Curtis, a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D.’91). Other new members include Jalena Bradley, Hamilton Holmes Jr., Wayne Hoover, Kim Kingsfield, Garrett Mack, and Lucy Pinto.
Two alumni from the School of Law—Yvette K. Daniels (J.D.’89) and Kevin A. Gooch (J.D.’04)—finished their board terms on June 30.
Dortch was recognized by the UGA Alumni Association in its 40 Under 40 Class of 2012 and recently received the university’s GAAME Impact Award for mentorship and inclusive excellence.
“For the past nine years, Corey has been an invaluable part of the Alumni Association, and it’s been a true pleasure working alongside him,” said Adam Roell, executive director of alumni relations. “He’s a lifelong learner who is deeply committed to student success and consistently gives his all to every endeavor.”
While at UGA, Dortch participated in organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and New Student Orientation. He was awarded both the Fred Brown Memorial Award and Tucker Dorsey Memorial Award during his time as a student. He is also a member of Blue Key Honor Society and Sphinx Club. Outside UGA, he serves on advisory boards including Leadership Georgia.
The executive board supporting Dortch includes Paton Faletti (vice president), Charlita Stevens-Walker (secretary), Lee Zell (immediate past president), Adam Johnson (development committee chair), Selby Hill (engagement committee chair), and Don Grimsley (mentorship committee chair).
