The University of Georgia School of Law has announced a new admissions pathway for students who earn a bachelor’s degree from institutions within the University System of Georgia. Starting with the fall 2026 admissions cycle, eligible students can apply without taking the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Those admitted through this route will receive a $5,000 merit scholarship.

“The launch of the USG Scholars program truly reflects our school’s vision of matching excellence with access,” said School of Law Dean Usha R. Rodrigues. “USG institutions are dedicated to advancing the prosperity of all Georgians, our state and our nation through the power of education. As Georgia’s flagship law school, we are building on this dedication by removing barriers to access and preparing well-rounded graduates who are ready to serve both state and society.”

Assistant Dean for Admissions and Strategic Initiatives Xavier R. Brown stated that this new pathway demonstrates UGA Law’s ongoing commitment to broadening access to legal education across Georgia. “This program offers an important opportunity for individuals who may lack access to LSAT or GRE preparation resources and helps address financial barriers commonly associated with applying to law school.”

To qualify, applicants must have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.50 and have scored at or above the 85th percentile nationally on either the SAT or ACT at the time they took the test.

The application period for USG Scholars is set for September 1 through October 1, 2025. The number of students admitted under this program will be limited, making admission competitive even for those meeting minimum eligibility requirements. More information about the process is available on the School of Law’s website at https://www.law.uga.edu/scholars-admission-process.

A virtual information session about the program will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at noon Eastern Standard Time. Prospective applicants can register at https://forms.lsac-unite.org/5813/USGScholarsInfoSession.html.

Since 2015, UGA School of Law has operated a similar initiative—the UGA Scholars program—which allows current UGA undergraduates meeting certain academic criteria to apply without submitting LSAT or GRE scores.
