The University of Georgia School of Law’s Public Interest Practicum has contributed to an update of the Georgia Landlord Tenant Handbook. The effort was led by Clinical Associate Professor Elizabeth M. Grant in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The handbook is intended as a resource for both tenants and landlords, outlining legal rights and responsibilities. Recent graduates from the School of Law—Elizabeth J. Ferguson (J.D.’25), William P. “Paxton” Murphy (J.D.’24), and Jack B. Richardson (J.D.’24)—worked on revising key sections of the guide. These include topics such as habitability, tenant rights related to domestic violence, landlord retaliation, squatting, affordable housing programs, and other relevant issues.

Students also partnered with the Center for Access to Justice at Georgia State University College of Law during this project.
