Professor Mecca Anderson leads externship programs at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School

Professor Mecca Anderson, with a wealth of experience in personal injury, criminal law, civil litigation, and appellate practice, is currently serving as the Director of Externship Programs at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Her role involves connecting students with valuable placements throughout Georgia, including courts and law firms. She emphasizes professional identity and ethics through rigorous instruction and mentorship.

Before joining academia, Anderson was Chief of Staff to Chief Justice Carol W. Hunstein of the Georgia Supreme Court. Her career also includes positions at The Cochran Firm and The Summerville Firm, where she handled complex legal cases. As an Assistant Solicitor in Fulton County, she led trial teams and trained new attorneys.

Anderson has been recognized for her leadership in the legal profession with honors such as being named a Georgia Super Lawyer (2022–2023) and receiving the State Bar of Georgia’s Commitment to Equality Award. She has served on various boards including the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and continues to mentor emerging leaders.

In her personal life, Anderson enjoys cooking, live music, and walking her dog along the Atlanta Beltline. She takes pride in her daughter Layla who inspires her daily.
