Summer public interest fellowships at the University of Georgia School of Law offer valuable hands-on learning experiences for law students. The school prioritizes grants for those pursuing legal work in nonprofits, federal and state government, judicial clerkships, legal services, and policy/impact organizations. Over the past five years, more than $1.5 million has been awarded to students in these unpaid positions through contributions from alumni and friends.
This summer, approximately 85 students are utilizing their fellowships to engage in legal work across Georgia and other states including California, Idaho, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Among them, 50 students are involved in public interest and government placements with 10 serving in rural counties of Georgia. Additionally, 33 students are working within judicial chambers.
