Inez Grant, an alumna of Atlanta's John Marshall Law School (AJMLS), has been appointed as the Hall County Solicitor-General by Governor Brian Kemp. Grant, who graduated in 1991, began her legal career at the Hall County Solicitor’s Office shortly after passing the bar exam. There, she gained significant trial experience which laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
“I was able to build on what I learned at John Marshall in a trial training environment,” Grant said about her early career experiences.
Grant's legal journey includes serving as a prosecutor for 17 years across Northeast Georgia, with roles such as chief assistant solicitor in both Hall and Forsyth Counties. Her work led to the establishment of Hall County’s Domestic Violence Taskforce, reflecting her commitment to community-focused legal service.
“The education I received at John Marshall helped me to navigate both civil and criminal law,” she noted, attributing her success to the practical approach of her alma mater.
After stepping away from prosecution to focus on family matters, Grant opened a private practice in Hall County. Her practice covered areas including domestic litigation, criminal defense, immigration law, and juvenile issues. She also holds positions as Solicitor for the City Courts of Gainesville and Oakwood and contributes to various legal committees while mentoring students.
Reflecting on her appointment as Solicitor-General, Grant remarked: “It has been a long and winding road since graduating from John Marshall. Like the song says, it does lead back to where you start…”
Her new role marks a significant milestone in her career and serves as an inspiration for aspiring attorneys aiming to make meaningful contributions within their communities.
