The School of Law has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. This funding will support the Classic City Civics Project, aimed at enhancing civics education for middle school students in Athens.
Andrea L. Dennis, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Martin Chair of Law, is leading this initiative with third-year law student Caleb Z. Morris. The project intends to provide interactive resources focused on local engagement to help students understand law, government, and citizenship.
“The grant from the Foundation of the FBA is a critical first step in making this vision a reality,” said Morris. He currently holds positions as president of UGA’s Federal Bar Association Student Chapter and national law student chair of the FBA Law Student Division. “We are excited to begin building resources that will empower and inspire the next generation of community leaders.”
Richard Dunn, founder of Education Matters, a local nonprofit organization, will also contribute to supporting the Classic City Civics Project's mission.
