The Atlanta's John Marshall Law School (AJMLS) celebrates the achievements of its students, highlighting Rachel Avrunin's journey as a second-year law student. Rachel, who spent 20 years raising her four children, decided to pursue her passion for law in 2023. "Taking the leap to pursue law was a bold decision, but one that felt true to my heart," she says.

Rachel values the relationships she builds at AJMLS with peers and professors. “These relationships have profoundly enriched my legal education, reinforcing the values of empathy, communication, and dedication that shape both my personal and professional life,” she reflects.

With a background as a Licensed Master of Social Work in Georgia, Rachel brings empathy into her legal studies. Her goal is to provide client-centered advocacy with open communication and commitment to justice. “I am committed to becoming a compassionate and effective legal advocate,” she shares.

Her academic achievements include making the Dean’s List with excellence in her Fall 2024 Evidence course. During an internship with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Victim Witness Assistance Program in Summer 2024, Rachel advocated for victims of violent crimes. This experience reinforced her passion for social justice.

Rachel also serves as a Peer Mentor at AJMLS and works as a Student Assistant in the Office of Admissions. She helps new students navigate law school challenges while using skills in public speaking and organizational management.

Looking ahead, Rachel aims to become an empathetic legal advocate who ensures clients feel supported throughout their legal journeys. “Human connection is the cornerstone of effective advocacy,” she says.

As Rachel continues her education at AJMLS, there is confidence that her dedication will make a significant impact in the field of law.
