The University of Georgia has announced the closure of its Athens Campus on Friday, January 10, 2025, due to an impending winter storm. This decision prioritizes the safety and security of faculty, staff, and students. As a result, all in-person classes and campus events will be canceled for the day.

The School of Law at UGA will also close its buildings on this date. Plans are in place to reschedule any events or activities affected by the closure once normal operations resume. Organizers are advised to inform guests and attendees about the university's closure.

Access to the law library will be suspended from midnight tonight through Friday. Updates regarding its reopening on Saturday, January 11, will be provided as conditions develop.

Faculty members have been given discretion regarding class arrangements. They may choose to conduct classes online at their scheduled times, post asynchronous lectures, or reschedule them entirely. The same closure policy applies to clinics with some exceptions for ethical duties that cannot be postponed or conducted remotely.

Additionally, the deadline for registration and drop/add has been extended to Tuesday, January 14, at 11:59 p.m.

Students with specific class-related questions should contact their professors directly. For general inquiries, Dean Dennis or Ms. Tickles can provide assistance. Employees are encouraged to reach out to their direct supervisors within the School of Law’s Crisis Response Group.

The university emphasizes caution during this period and advises keeping devices charged while staying connected with friends and family. The primary source for emergency news related to UGA is emergency.uga.edu.

For law school-specific updates based on university-wide decisions, information will be available on the law school's homepage and social media platforms. Additionally, separate emails may be sent out as necessary.

The law school encourages faculty, staff, and students to sign up for ugaLAWalert by texting “ugaLAWalert” to 877-804-2955 for one-way notifications about law-school-specific impacts during emergencies.

In summary: "The safety of our community is always our #1 priority," stated by UGA officials underscores their commitment during inclement weather situations.
