Patrise M. Perkins-Hooker concluded her service on the Board of Directors for Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School (AJMLS) on December 6, 2024, after a decade of involvement. Her contributions have been significant to the institution's growth and success.
Currently, Perkins-Hooker serves as the Interim City Attorney for Atlanta, Georgia. Her previous roles include County Attorney for Fulton County, Vice President and General Counsel for the Atlanta BeltLine Inc., and Administrative Partner at Johnson & Freeman, LLC. She has also worked in private practice as a partner at Hollowell, Foster & Gepp, PC.
Perkins-Hooker's leadership extends beyond her professional career. She was the first person of color to serve as President of the State Bar of Georgia and has held various leadership positions within the organization. Additionally, she has chaired several boards including the City of Atlanta’s Board of Zoning Adjustment and Emory Business School Alumni Association.
Her accolades include induction into the Gate City Bar Association’s Hall of Fame and receiving awards such as the Leah Ward Sears Service to the Profession Award from the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. She was named one of Atlanta Magazine's 500 Most Powerful Leaders in Government and Politics from 2021 to 2024.
As Perkins-Hooker steps down from AJMLS's board, she leaves behind a legacy marked by excellence and community engagement. The law school expressed gratitude for her contributions over the past ten years.
Perkins-Hooker is married to Douglas R. Hooker and they have two children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
