Attorney Bill Lundy recently addressed Professor Malempati’s constitutional law class at AJMLS, sharing his extensive legal experience. His visit was facilitated by his son, Mathew “Lee” Lundy, a current student at the institution. During the session, Mr. Lundy discussed federal preemption and his role in the Supreme Court case CSX Transportation v. Easterwood.
The case, initially rejected but later appealed to the Supreme Court, highlighted federal preemption issues. Lundy's involvement contributed significantly to its outcome, which led to the closure of a dangerous crosswalk and improved public safety.
Mr. Lundy provided students with insights into federal preemption complexities and real-world legal implications. He also offered advice for aspiring attorneys: "Do Your Job," emphasizing diligence; "Have a Sense of Urgency," recognizing timely action's importance; "Enjoy the Process," finding joy in legal practice; "Guard Your Reputation," upholding integrity; "Be Prepared," equipping oneself with knowledge; and "Be a Zealous and Ethical Advocate."
With over 30 years in law focusing on personal injury and other areas, Mr. Lundy has achieved notable jury verdicts like $9.5 million and $2 million in nursing home abuse cases, showcasing his commitment to justice.
AJMLS expressed gratitude for Mr. Lundy's visit, acknowledging his impact on students aspiring to be ethical advocates in law.
