The University of Georgia School of Law has achieved the highest bar exam passage rate in the state for the 11th year in a row. Graduates from UGA Law who took the July 2024 exam led first-time takers across Georgia's law schools, surpassing the overall passage rate by over 9%.
Dean Peter B. "Bo" Rutledge emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, "Bar exam passage is one of the leading indicators of success for both our students and for our law school." He noted that UGA Law is working to redefine what it means to be a prominent national public law school by partnering with students through initiatives like their Bar Exam Success Team, bar prep stipends, and workshops focused on writing and test-taking.
Rutledge expressed pride in the graduates' performance, highlighting their more than 90% first-time success rate. He also reaffirmed commitment to those who did not achieve optimal results until they find success and become leaders. "Our recent near-perfect Ultimate Bar Passage Rate (99.48%) for those who sat for the bar and passed within two years of graduation is evidence of this dedication to our graduates," he added.
Rutledge extended gratitude to Jean Mangan, Director of Bar Passage, along with alumni/alumnae and friends whose support contributes to these outcomes.
