Atlanta's John Marshall Law School has announced its Student Bar Association (SBA) Executive Board for the 2024-2025 academic year, featuring a diverse group of individuals dedicated to student advocacy and professional development.
Jodi-Ann Salters, the newly elected President, is a nontraditional, first-generation law student from Jamaica. She is the first mother to serve in this role at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Salters has earned multiple accolades, including the distinguished Cali award in Tort II, Civil Procedure II, and Mastering Legal Principles I. She also received recognition as the top oralist in LWRA II and was named student of the quarter in Fall 2022 and Fall 2023. As an aspiring civil litigation attorney, she aims to create inclusive spaces for students and leverage her leadership skills to ensure justice and fairness.
Vice President Tanner Fonjweng is currently a third-year law student (3L) who serves as a LexisNexis Student Representative. He previously held the position of Vice President of the Black Law Student Association and is an active member of the Advocacy Board. Fonjweng has completed several internships at personal injury firms and plans to pursue a career in civil litigation.
Bindi Patel serves as Secretary while completing her third year at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Admitted to law school at just 19 years old, Patel transitioned from an online undergraduate experience during COVID-19 to traditional academia. She received a CALI Award in Contracts II during her first year (1L) and was named to the Dean’s List in Summer 2023.
Treasurer Zy’yaire Williams is also a third-year law student from Atlanta, Georgia. Williams authored "Are You Ready to be Led" at age nine and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Spelman College in three years. Her professional background includes working for Mayor Ingraham of East Point, Georgia, as well as criminal defense and family law firms.
Cayla Petty serves as Parliamentarian while pursuing her second year at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Petty aims to become a successful criminal attorney with aspirations for judgeship or political office later in her career. She previously served as Parliamentarian of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity while studying at The University of Alabama.
Destiny Thomas holds the position of ABA Representative while entering her third year at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Dr. Thomas is founder and CEO of Thrivance Group, focusing on marginalized communities' safety, health, and accessibility needs. She holds advanced degrees including a Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Anthropology from California Institute of Integral Studies.
