DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston has announced a conviction by jury trial in the case against Nathan Weeks, a Lithonia man accused of shooting and killing Isaac Godbolt at a Stone Mountain gas station.

On Wednesday, jurors found Weeks, 27, guilty on charges of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. These charges stem from the murder of Godbolt, 54, which took place on June 20, 2023.

The DeKalb County Police Department reported that officers responded to a call about a person shot at a gas station in the 4700 block of Redan Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Godbolt in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Surveillance video revealed that Weeks arrived at the gas station and mingled with a group of people near a silver car. Godbolt pulled up in his vehicle and conversed with one person from the group before pulling forward slightly. Weeks then approached Godbolt’s car. As Godbolt attempted to exit his vehicle, Weeks opened fire, shooting him repeatedly before fleeing the scene.

Weeks confessed to the murder during a recorded conversation with his mother. Law enforcement apprehended him in Columbus, GA. At the time of his arrest, Weeks was found with a handgun that testing confirmed fired the shell casings found at the scene of the shooting.

Senior Judge Winston Bethel presided over the trial for DeKalb County Superior Court. Sentencing for Weeks will be scheduled in due course.

The case was assigned to the Homicide and Gangs Unit and prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kara Roberts with assistance from Senior Assistant District Attorney Andrew Turner, District Attorney Investigator J.B. Williams, and Victim Advocate Kaysha Albritton. Det. Smith of the DeKalb County Police Department led the initial investigation.
