Cobb Solicitor General's Office participates in Denim Day 2024 at KSU

Public Safety Advocates from the Office of the Cobb Solicitor General Makia Metzger participated in Denim Day 2024 at Kennesaw State University on Friday, April 26, 2024. The event saw students decorating jeans to show their support for survivors of sexual assault. Prosecutors and victim advocate staff were present to provide information on support resources and educational materials about sexual assault awareness.

In addition to these efforts, various courts and administrations continue their work in serving the community. The State Court hears traffic violation and misdemeanor cases while providing administrative support for judges, managing probation cases, and overseeing petit jury service. It also maintains all State Court records and collects all fines and fees associated with such.

The Superior Court handles felony, divorce, and title to land cases. It provides administrative support for judges and oversees jury service. This court also maintains all Superior Court records, including divorce decrees and real estate records.

The Probate Court oversees guardianship appointments, management of decedent estates, probate of wills; it issues marriage and weapons carry licenses as well.

Juvenile Court hears cases involving children under the age of 18. The Magistrate Court issues arrest warrants, hears small claims cases, conducts weddings, and offers volunteer mediation.

The District Attorney's office is responsible for felony prosecution and appeals, alternative case resolution, victim witness unit operations, and child support enforcement.

Lastly, the Solicitor General investigates crimes, interviews victims and witnesses, as well as prosecutes misdemeanors.
