Mercer Music at Capricorn is set to host an Entertainment Law Seminar on April 13, 2024, as part of its ongoing Professional Development Series. The one-day seminar will feature leading entertainment law practitioners from Nashville and Georgia, covering topics such as copyright, trademarks, artist and performance contracts, and negotiations.
Dean and Professor Karen Sneddon from Mercer Law School emphasized the importance of the seminar, stating, “Navigating legal issues in the entertainment industry can be daunting for artists and others who are new to the music business. Our presenters for this day-long seminar have decades of experience in various aspects of entertainment law.”
The event, co-sponsored by Mercer’s law and music schools, aims to provide valuable insights into the complexities of entertainment law. According to Sneddon, the seminar will kick off with an overview of entertainment law, delve into critical copyright issues, address trademark concerns, and explore elements of songwriter/artist contracts and entertainment contracts for performance. The day will culminate in a simulated negotiation exercise.
The seminar, running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., requires a registration fee of $99, granting participants access to all sessions. Those interested can find the full lineup of seminars and complete online registration details at https://capricorn.mercer.edu/entertainment-law/.
