A Decatur woman has pleaded guilty to charges related to the 2022 shooting death of her husband. The DeKalb County District Attorney's Office announced that Iesha Zenobia Harmon, 45, admitted guilt on December 1, 2025, to Voluntary Manslaughter, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The charges stem from the fatal shooting of her husband, Shedrick Harmon, 44.

According to investigators, police responded to an emergency call at approximately 3:05 a.m. on September 19, 2022, at a residence in the 2400 block of Charleston Terrace in unincorporated Decatur. Officers found Shedrick Harmon with a gunshot wound to his upper right torso. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Authorities reported that Iesha Harmon called 911 after the shooting and told investigators it was accidental. She stated there had been no argument prior to the incident and explained that two firearms and unfolded laundry were on their bed when she picked up one of the guns incorrectly and discharged it.

However, further investigation revealed text messages and statements from friends and family pointing to ongoing violence in the relationship as well as drug and alcohol use and infidelity. Prosecutors said Iesha Harmon had previously threatened her husband with a firearm several times.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney Johnson presided over the plea hearing and sentenced Iesha Harmon to 30 years in prison.

The case was handled by the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit. Senior Assistant District Attorney Ashley Johnson prosecuted with assistance from Senior Assistant District Attorney Miriam Broussard, District Attorney Investigator Justus, and Victim Advocate Veronica Pelaez-Maya. Detective Wright of the DeKalb County Police Department led the initial investigation.
