Mayor Vince R. Williams of Union City, Georgia, said that Amazon provides residents with honest employment opportunities that help families achieve stability and a better quality of life. This statement was included in the Oxford Economics report.

"Amazon provided residents with honest employment, where people can secure a job, be able to take care of families, and have a good quality of life," said R. Williams.

According to Oxford Economics, Amazon fulfillment centers strengthen local communities through job creation, higher wages, and increased workforce participation. The analysis indicates that counties with Amazon facilities show improved economic indicators, including reduced unemployment and fewer residents requiring public assistance programs.

Oxford Economics reports that since 2010, Amazon has invested $23.8 billion in Georgia, supporting operations at more than 50 sites statewide. These investments have contributed $25.5 billion to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and reduced unemployment in Fulton County by 1.3 percentage points, demonstrating Amazon’s broad economic footprint across metro Atlanta.

The report further reveals that in 55 U.S. counties where Amazon created at least 1,000 jobs in a single year, local economies experienced sustained positive effects. After five years, unemployment fell by 0.37 percentage points, average weekly wages rose by 2.6%, and new business formation increased by 5%, indicating lasting local economic improvements associated with Amazon expansion.

According to the National League of Cities, Williams serves as Mayor of Union City, Georgia, and is a past president of the organization. His leadership background includes work in municipal governance, regional planning, and initiatives related to economic development and employer partnerships that support local workforce programs.
