Amazon has announced an expansion of pay and benefits for its fulfillment and transportation workers in Georgia and across the United States. This includes a $5 weekly health care plan and enhanced education programs.

According to Amazon, this investment, which exceeds $1 billion, aims to improve the quality of life, career growth, and financial stability of its employees nationwide. The announcement comes ahead of major seasonal shopping events such as Prime Big Deal Days and the holiday season. The company emphasized that these initiatives were informed by extensive employee feedback as part of a broader strategy to create a more rewarding workplace culture that supports both short- and long-term employee well-being.

Amazon's 2024 workforce announcement states that hourly pay for fulfillment and transportation workers will now exceed $23 per hour, with overall compensation—including benefits—surpassing $30 per hour. Full-time employees are expected to receive an average pay increase of approximately $1,600 per year, with long-tenured employees seeing raises between $1.10 and $1.90 per hour. The company reported that employees who have remained with Amazon for at least three years have seen their pay rise by 35%, demonstrating consistent progress in compensation growth and retention efforts.

Beginning in 2026, according to Amazon, employees enrolled in the company’s entry-level health care plan will pay only $5 per week for coverage and $5 for copays. This change is expected to reduce weekly contributions by 34% and lower copay costs by 87% for primary and mental health care visits. The company said that this will save employees hundreds of dollars each year, improving access to affordable care for thousands of workers across Georgia and the U.S. Additionally, Amazon’s Career Choice program will continue offering 100% pre-paid tuition at over 475 accredited partners, allowing employees to pursue education in fields such as health care, technology, and business at no personal cost.

According to its official company overview, Amazon employs more than 1.5 million people worldwide, including thousands based in Georgia working across fulfillment centers, logistics hubs, and delivery stations. The company's mission focuses on continuous innovation, employee empowerment, and community engagement while striving to make workplaces safer and more inclusive. By expanding affordable health care, increasing wages, and investing in education, Amazon continues to advance its long-term goal of being Earth’s best employer while creating meaningful career pathways for its global workforce.
