The electronic filing system for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia experienced a technical issue on August 28, 2025. The Case Management / Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system was unavailable to attorneys starting at approximately 3:00 p.m.

According to court officials, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts in Washington, D.C., which oversees the CM/ECF system, informed the court at 9:00 p.m. that a solution had been implemented. As a result, the clerk’s office classified its ECF site as having experienced a technical failure from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on that date.

“Pursuant to Appendix H to the Local Rules for the Northern District of Georgia, an attorney may timely file a declaration seeking relief from the Court for not meeting a deadline as a result of the technical failure,” according to court guidance. “A sample declaration appears at Form B to Appendix H.”

The local rules provide procedures for attorneys who missed filing deadlines due to such technical issues.
