In response to the Air India Flight 171 crash, attorney Mike Andrews of Beasley Allen is leading legal efforts on behalf of more than 85 families affected by the disaster. The victims’ families come from India, the United Kingdom, and other countries.

Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, India. More than 270 people died in the accident. “Families deserve answers, not silence,” said Mike Andrews. He has been working directly in India and has represented aviation victims before.

Preliminary findings from India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) point to a dual-engine failure involving both General Electric GEnx engines losing thrust seconds after takeoff. However, Andrews criticized the report for not releasing full cockpit voice recorder (CVR) data. “The preliminary report did not share the full CVR data. This creates confusion and unfairly blames the pilots. We need the full CVR and FDR to examine what really happened,” he stated.

Andrews noted that without complete information from flight recorders, it remains difficult to determine exactly what caused the crash.

Beasley Allen is exploring product liability claims in U.S. courts concerning possible mechanical or design flaws with the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that could endanger passengers and crew. The firm plans to work with aviation experts globally as well as regulatory authorities to ensure safety standards are met.

Beasley Allen’s team is working closely with families across locations such as Ahmedabad and London by collecting evidence and survivor accounts while seeking accountability through legal channels. According to Andrews, their aim is that lessons learned will lead to reforms protecting vulnerable communities.
