A DeKalb County Grand Jury has indicted Faduma Mohamed, 24, of Stone Mountain, in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Little Five Points on April 14, 2025. The incident resulted in the death of Cooper Schoenke, 19.
Prosecutors allege that Mohamed led a Georgia State Patrol trooper on a high-speed chase after being observed speeding and driving recklessly on I-20 eastbound near Boulevard. Authorities say Mohamed exited the interstate onto Moreland Avenue heading north and continued to flee for nearly two miles. The pursuit ended when Mohamed reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and Euclid Avenue and collided with Schoenke’s vehicle.
Mohamed faces several charges including Felony Murder, four counts of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, multiple DUI charges related to controlled substances and drugs, Reckless Driving, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
"The case will be assigned to a Superior Court Judge and set down for arraignment. Once Mohamed has been arraigned, then a trial date may be set," according to officials.
