Less than forty seconds into its flight, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed in Ahmedabad, India, on June 12. The accident resulted in the deaths of over 270 individuals. Attorney Mike Andrews from Beasley Allen is representing the victims' families to ensure their voices are heard during the investigation.

The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick when it failed to gain altitude shortly after takeoff, crashing into a densely populated residential area. Preliminary investigations indicate a dual-engine power loss as a possible cause, with both General Electric GEnx engines reportedly losing thrust immediately after takeoff.

“The onboard flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have both been recovered and are currently being analyzed by the Indian accident investigation board,” stated Mike Andrews. “Data from these devices will be critical in determining what went wrong and why.”

Andrews, who has experience from leading litigation efforts after the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines crash, stressed the importance of being present at the crash site. “Being on the ground here is crucial to understanding the local pressures families are facing. This tragedy didn’t just affect passengers—it devastated an entire community. Deaths and injuries at the Medical College crash site underscore that aviation safety is a global concern.”

Local media reports suggest preliminary findings might be released soon, although final reports could take months. Investigators will also look into other incidents involving Boeing 787 aircraft for similarities.

“Our primary focus at this stage is to assist families in finding answers,” Andrews added. “We are committed to ensuring accountability and transparency throughout this investigation.”
