On June 12, 2025, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a residential area shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, India. The incident resulted in the loss of more than 270 lives, including passengers and crew. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick when it failed to gain altitude and exploded.
Preliminary findings indicate that a rare dual-engine failure might have caused the crash. Both General Electric GEnx engines reportedly lost thrust soon after takeoff, causing the plane to climb only 450 feet before crashing into nearby buildings. Following this event, India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation has mandated urgent inspections of all Boeing 787 aircraft operated by Indian carriers.
Beasley Allen's aviation litigation team is investigating the crash under the leadership of Mike Andrews, a well-known aviation attorney. Andrews stated: "We are working to uncover the truth of what happened in this tragedy, but indications so far are that this crash resulted from a serious loss of power and thrust. Video and audio evidence indicate that the RAT device, which should only deploy under very specific and unusual circumstances, did deploy shortly after takeoff. The deployment of the RAT, combined with reports of onboard electrical failures, certainly helps to narrow the focus of this failure investigation. As this important work continues, our thoughts are always with the families of the victims."
Beasley Allen has extensive experience representing victims in aviation disaster cases. Andrews previously handled significant cases such as the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash in 2019 against Boeing. His expertise in international aviation law and his ability to work with grieving families make him a trusted advocate.
As investigations proceed regarding the Air India crash, Beasley Allen is committed to assisting affected families and holding accountable those responsible for the tragedy.
