John F. Kennedy, a State Senator for Georgia, announced the passage of Senate Bill 68 in the Georgia Senate as a significant step in advancing tort reform efforts aimed at supporting job creators, families, and consumers. The statement was made on the social media platform X on March 21.

"I'm proud to announce that SB 68 passed the Georgia Senate today," said F. Kennedy. "Bringing us one step closer to meaningful tort reform that puts job creators, families, and consumers first! Thank you to my colleagues in the Senate and House for working together. Deliver for hardworking Georgians."

Senate Bill 68, a tort reform bill supported by Georgia legislators, passed the state Senate on March 21. The legislation seeks to modify legal standards and procedures to reduce frivolous lawsuits and create a more favorable climate for businesses and consumers. According to the state legislature, Governor Brian Kemp is expected to review the bill next.

Georgia has long debated tort reform as a means to improve its legal environment. A 2023 report from the American Tort Reform Association ranked Georgia as one of the top "Judicial Hellholes," citing excessive litigation risks for businesses. The passage of SB 68 aims to address these concerns.

Kennedy has served as a member of the Georgia State Senate since 2014, representing District 18. He currently holds the role of Senate President Pro Tempore and has sponsored or supported legislation related to judiciary matters and economic development.
