Tanysia Janae Middlebrooks, a 19-year-old from Thomaston, Georgia, was involved in a tragic accident while driving along US Highway 431 in Calhoun County, Alabama. She was visiting an Alabama school with the father of her unborn child. As she approached the intersection of US Highway 431 and West Lenlock Lane, her car had a minor accident. When she stepped out to assess the damage, she was struck by a commercial vehicle driven by David James Zackery, an employee of Waste Recycling, Inc., resulting in her death and the loss of her unborn child.

Chris Glover, Managing Attorney of Beasley Allen's Atlanta Office, represented Tanysia's parents and estate administrators, Sherrika L. Allen and Tavares K. Middlebrooks. The lawsuit sought damages under the Alabama Wrongful Death Act against Waste Recycling, Inc., and David James Zackery for their negligent conduct.

The legal proceedings concluded with a $2.9 million settlement agreement. The family hopes this outcome will provide closure and help prevent future tragedies.

"This case highlights the importance of road safety and the devastating consequences of negligence," stated representatives from Beasley Allen. "While no amount of money can replace the loss of a loved one, the settlement serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and the value of life."

Beasley Allen emphasized their commitment to investigating truck accidents thoroughly to support claims against trucking firms and insurance companies effectively.
