Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr. has announced the sentencing of Wolford Hunter Kilgore, aged 54, who pled guilty to several charges including aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, and child molestation. The plea was entered on August 16, 2024.
Judge Julie Adams Jacobs of Cobb County Superior Court sentenced Kilgore to a total of 40 years. The sentence includes 15 years in prison without parole and an additional 25 years on probation. Kilgore is prohibited from contacting the victim and must register as a sex offender.
The case began in May 2020 when the underaged victim reported inappropriate contact by Kilgore at his home in Kennesaw. She provided details of incidents spanning over 18 months.
Cobb County Police SVU detectives and Kennesaw police conducted a forensic interview with the victim. She described escalating incidents of touching and molestation.
Kilgore confessed to the charges while at Kennestone Hospital, aligning with the victim's account during her interview with police.
On August 16, Judge Julie Adams Jacobs imposed the sentence during a non-negotiated plea hearing.
District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr. stated: “I want to commend the courage of the victim in coming forward and the hard work of our team and law enforcement partners in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.”
Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Raynor prosecuted for the State, while Kim Keheley Frye represented Kilgore.
