A Stone Mountain man has been sentenced to life without parole plus five years following a jury trial for his involvement in a fatal shooting. The DeKalb County District Attorney, Sherry Boston, announced the conviction of Isaac Thompson, 24, who was found guilty of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. The charges relate to the death of Aquandis Foston, 22, which occurred on February 20, 2021.

The incident unfolded when officers from the DeKalb County Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a townhouse on Wells Circle in Stone Mountain. Upon arrival, they discovered Foston with a gunshot wound to the chest. Witnesses were present and provided information to the police.

Investigations revealed that Thompson's girlfriend, Makayla Bolston, 21, had contacted Foston multiple times on the day of the shooting. When Foston arrived at her invitation, he was confronted by Thompson and another unidentified man who demanded he leave. A confrontation ensued during which Thompson shot Foston before fleeing.

Following the jury's decision on November 7, 2024, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Yolanda Parker-Smith imposed the sentence on Thompson.

In connection with this case, Bolston faces charges including Malice Murder and Felony Murder for allegedly luring Foston to the location. Her case remains pending after an indictment by a DeKalb County Grand Jury in August 2021.

The prosecution team included Senior Assistant District Attorneys Andrew Turner and Helen Pott along with Investigator A. Zachary and Victim Advocate Kaysha Albritton from the Homicide and Gangs Unit. Detective D. Evans led the initial investigation for the DeKalb County Police Department.
