Cobb County Solicitor General Makia Metzger and her staff joined Highland Rivers Behavioral Health for the first time in recognizing National Mental Health Awareness Month. The event took place during a well-attended program on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Office of the Solicitor General in Marietta, Georgia.
Victim Advocate Caryn Dawkins welcomed those in attendance, which included prosecutors, victim advocates, and legal administrative assistants. Jennifer Logan, Director of Accountability Court Services, delivered heartfelt remarks about the extreme challenges that mental health brings to those incarcerated or impacted by the criminal justice system.
Solicitor General Metzger spoke about efforts underway to bridge the relationship with Highland Rivers and create a task force to tackle the problems facing those with mental health issues so they could receive the care they need.
The program also provided an overview of various court services and their contact information.
