(Marietta, GA – April 30, 2024) Cobb District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. announced that Michael Lydon Strong, 43, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for aggravated stalking and disorderly conduct. Superior Court Judge Jason D. Marbutt delivered the sentence following a guilty verdict on April 25, 2024.

The case revolved around incidents of domestic violence involving the victim, her 13-year-old son, and Strong, who was the victim's live-in boyfriend at the time. Evidence presented in court detailed a pattern of abusive behavior by Strong, including fits of rage, property damage, and physical assault on the victim.

"The jury’s decision highlights our office's dedication to protecting and advocating for victims of domestic violence," stated District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. in response to the sentencing.

The victim and her son had sought a protection order against Strong due to their escalating fear and the defendant's violent actions. Despite a Family Violence Ex Parte Protection Order being issued, Strong violated the terms by unlawfully entering the victim's residence in October 2020. This violation led to a terrifying confrontation where the victim's son had to call 911 for help.

Assistant District Attorneys Holly Morgan and Dallas Cox prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, while the defendant was represented by Brian A. Hobbs.

The sentencing of Michael Lydon Strong to 10 years in prison serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of aggravated stalking and domestic violence cases, reaffirming the commitment of the legal system to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
