(Marietta, GA – April 26, 2024) Cobb District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. announced that Allison Wean, 46, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for aggravated child molestation. The sentencing by Superior Court Judge Kellie S. Hill follows Wean being found guilty of two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, and one count of child molestation.
The case revealed disturbing details of how Wean groomed and sexually abused a minor under the age of 16. It was disclosed that the victim's mother met Wean through a local mom group event, where the victim and Wean's daughter formed a close friendship. Subsequently, Wean and the victim's mother became co-leaders of a Girl Scout Troop.
In a shocking turn of events, in 2014, Wean's then-husband confronted her with evidence of inappropriate behavior, leading to their divorce. The investigation took a significant turn in 2020 when the victim disclosed to a family friend that the sexual relationship with Wean began when she was just 12 years old. This revelation prompted further action, leading to Wean's conviction on all counts by a Cobb County jury.
District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. emphasized the significance of the verdict, stating, "Every child deserves to grow up in a world free from fear and exploitation." The successful prosecution was carried out by Assistant District Attorneys Kristen Judd and Alex Oberkolfer, while Wean was represented by attorneys Holly Michele Waltman and Clarence O. Taylor, IV.
This case sheds light on the importance of vigilance in protecting children from potential predators and the crucial role of law enforcement and legal teams in ensuring justice for survivors of abuse.
