District Attorney Keith Higgins announced the retirement of two senior staff members from the Appling-Jeff Davis Office of the District Attorney’s Office for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.
Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Jan Kennedy retired after over 27 years of service as a prosecutor in the Brunswick Judicial Circuit. ADA Kennedy had been the Managing Attorney in the Appling-Jeff Davis Office and was named Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney under DA Higgins from February 2021 to April 2023. ADA Kennedy expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am thankful for the opportunity to have served the people of Appling and Jeff Davis Counties for over two decades."
Legal Assistant (LA) Glenda Sue Spell also retired after nearly 26 years with the District Attorney’s Office. LA Spell, who started as a secretary in 1998, evolved in her role to become an essential part of the Appling-Jeff Davis Office. Spell stated, "It has been an honor to be a part of the legal team and serve the community for so many years."
A retirement ceremony was held for ADA Kennedy and LA Spell on February 22, 2024, at the Commissioner’s Meeting Room in the Appling Courthouse Annex. DA Higgins presented both retirees with plaques commemorating their service and thanked them for their professionalism and dedication to the Office of the District Attorney and the people of Appling and Jeff Davis Counties.
