Cobb Solicitor General, Makia Metzger, and members of her office team, took part in the 2024 Cobb Walk a Mile in Her Shoes march at Swift-Cantrell Park in Kennesaw. The event aimed to raise awareness about domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault. Solicitor General Metzger emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “We are dedicated to serving the families of Cobb County through diligent prosecution and advocacy for the 'VICTORS,' not victims, of domestic violence.”
The walk, which saw nearly 100 participants, including members of the community and various organizations, was a fundraising initiative to support victims in finding a pathway back to safety. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cobb Family Advocacy Center, which offers crucial services to victims of abuse through collaborative efforts with community partners.
Organizers of the event included The Cobb Domestic Violence Taskforce, the Kennesaw Public Safety Foundation, and the Kennesaw Police Department. The involvement of these entities underscores the collective commitment to addressing issues of domestic violence and supporting those affected by it.
The event served as a platform to highlight the role of different courts and legal entities in addressing various aspects of the justice system. From the State Court to the Superior Court, Probate Court, Juvenile Court, and Magistrate Court, each plays a vital role in upholding justice and serving the community.
As Solicitor General Metzger and her team continue their work in investigating crimes, interviewing victims and witnesses, and prosecuting misdemeanors, their participation in events like the Walk A Mile in Her Shoes demonstrates their dedication to advocating for justice and supporting those impacted by domestic violence.
