On February 26, 2024, Lanorris Dodson, 38, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 25 years before parole eligibility for sexually abusing a 15-year-old female. The sentencing was finalized by Superior Court Judge John Simpson who accepted the plea agreement presented by the State.

Assistant District Attorney Jared Parrish and DA Investigator Sonia Green were instrumental in prosecuting the case, while Newnan Police Department Detective Joseph Castro led the investigation that uncovered the disturbing details of the case.

The investigation revealed that Dodson’s step-daughter reported that he began raping her in 2016, resulting in her becoming pregnant at the age of 15 and giving birth to his child in 2017. Dodson's daughter also disclosed that she was subjected to sexual abuse by her father. Despite initially denying the allegations, DNA analysis confirmed his paternity.

In response to the case, a statement highlighted the significance of the collaborative efforts between law enforcement and the bravery of the victimized children in bringing a sexual predator to justice, stating, "This case serves an example of how the diligent work of law enforcement, combined the bravery of victimized children can bring a sexual predator to justice."

The successful prosecution of Dodson without a trial has been commended, with a hope expressed that he will remain incarcerated for life.
